Customized Minipets? - Guild Wars Forums

I often buy dedicated mini-pets because they're so inexpensive and still fun to use. However, I've twice now been offered a mini-pet that said it was customized for a particular character name rather than just saying "dedicated at the hall of monuments." Is that the same thing or something different?

Before there was dedicated minis, there was customized minis. Putting a mini in your HOM would customize it to that character, and it could only be used/taken out/whatever on that particular character (but could still be traded) There was much uproar, so they changed it to the 'dedicated' system we have now. Anyone who had previously put their mini in the hom could revisit it to change each mini to a 'dedicated' one instead of a 'customized' one. Pretty much everyone did. Those lazy saps trying to trade you theirs didn't, or they got conned into buying ones they couldn't even take out and are trying to dump them. Don't buy customized, they won't work for you. It's a quick free trip for the owner of the customized mini to make it dedicated, so no reason for them not to.
